Celebrity Cruises sells one wall-to-wall luxury product– The Celebrity Flora. This all-suite technological marvel hosts 100 lucky cruisers on the expedition of a lifetime in the Galapagos Islands. Step aboard with us as we go inside Celebrity’s most unique ship.
The Design
The Flora was built in the same shipyard as the Silver Seas Silver Origin. Except for a few details, it’s almost the same ship. Each of the 50 suites features a private terrace with outward-facing views from the beds. These views were a major design point when creating this vessel. The goal was to keep guests connected to the environment of the Galapagos Islands even while on the ship. This results in fantastic vistas from nearly everywhere onboard.
Celebrity included infinite verandas on many of the suites. They brought this popular feature over from the Edge class ships in their main fleet. This particular style of veranda allows guests to maximize the interior and exterior space of the room by need. When not using the terrace, the guest can simply close the double-pained glass wall and use every square inch of the room as interior space. Similarly, the same guest can lower the glass to form a waist-high balcony rail transforming the entire room into exterior space. Finally, a glass partition can be closed, separating an outdoor terrace from the interior.
This vessel was designed and built specifically for the Galapagos Islands and packs a host of environmentally friendly features plus state-of-the-art navigation technology. Guests will be joined by naturalists who will lead the shore landings from the onboard marina.
Public Spaces
The Flora features two restaurants. The Ocean Grill serves sustainable seafood sourced locally in an al fresco setting. Enjoy lunch between shore landings or dinner under the stars. The main restaurant is the Seaside restaurant on deck four. This dining room is wrapped with large windows, offering you stunning views with your Celebrity Signature Equadorian-inspired cuisine.
For additional education, views, and socializing, head over to the Observatory. This Library features vaulted windows, cozy seating, and a wealth of knowledge about the destination. There is no better place to relax with a book.
Another excellent social venue is the Discovery Lounge. This area is where most of your evening’s entertainment and socializing will take place. There is a small bar and ample seating to enjoy everything from music to presentations from naturalists.
Flora also features an excellent marina for boarding their custom-made Novurania Yacht Tenders. This seemingly small detail provides a tremendous leap forward regarding ease of access to your shore landings. You can walk right in rather than being lifted into a zodiac.
Special Experiences
There is no infrastructure once you reach the Galapagos Islands, which means no light pollution. Celebrity has used this to create an excellent stargazing platform on the top deck. The entire milky way will pour across the sky above you, so don’t forget to look up when you go.
For even more star-gazing, Celebrity offers the Galapagos Glamping Experience. For a small charge, the crew will repurpose a cabana for you and your guest to camp on deck under the stars. You will be hosted by a knowledgeable crew member who will tell you stories about the constellations and serve you dinner before leaving you to enjoy the night skies in private.
Celebrity Flora is a Luxury bargain and is combinable with Celebrity’s ten, eleven, and fifteen-night Galapagos tour packages, which ease travel to the region while giving you tours of Quito or even Machu Picchu.
