Starting in 2023 and 2024 Ponant will expand its partnership with Smithsonian Journeys to include sailings to the Italian island. The brand stated that they will be deploying Le Champlain, one of their popular Explorer Class expedition vessels to Valletta, Malta.
Ponant promises to provide two Smithsonian Journey experts as hosts on each itinerary. These cultural experts, historians, and academics will share their considerable knowledge with guests as they tour Greek Ruins, UNESCO World Heritage Sites, historic religious sites, and more.
Ponant has even announced a 9-day circumnavigation of Sicily to depart in April of 2024. The Island is steeped in ancient history with influences from Greece, Rome, and even Carthage. It is also an excellent destination for wine and culinary exploration. Additionally, guests enjoying Ponant’s world-class luxury views will also be exposed to some of the most beautiful sites on the Apennine Coast.
