The newest ship to enter Quark Expeditions fleet is also its most advanced to date. The Quark Ultramarine is a quantum leap forward for the brand that has been well-known for polar travel for over 30 years. Come with us onboard as we show you how Quark has incorporated that experience to design its best ship.
Ship Design
Ultramarine features a PC6, polar class hull capable of breaking seasonal ice in the poles. The ship carries 199 guests and 144 crew, giving it a nearly one-to-one guest-to-crew ratio. Quark’s designers wanted to advance the range of expeditions available to bring guests deeper polar expeditions.
Ultramarine features two twin-engine helicopters and includes one flightseeing excursion per guest. Additional opportunities for helicopter activities are available a la carte. All flight activities are subject to local regulations and weather.
Quark is known for its stout offering of excursion activities and watersports. Ultramarine has the most extensive portfolio of adventure activities, the largest suites, and the most outdoor viewing areas in its class.
Public Spaces
The common spaces include two restaurants. Balena Restaurant serves as the main dining room. Each table accommodates seating from two to ten, allowing guests to select the level of familiarity with their meal. The other dining room is Bistro 487, which offers mixed indoor and al fresco dining under the polar skies.
Ultramarine features the Tundra Spa with various wellness treatments and an impressive sauna with a view. The wellness facilities also feature a gym overlooking the water. Guests will also receive onboard enrichment from naturalists in the Ambassador Theater and socialize with a view in the Panorama Lounge.
Ultramarine has an onboard marina for easy access to the zodiac tenders and watersports equipment. The mudroom is where guests prepare for excursions and store their parkas and gear. The ship also has four points of access for smooth boarding and disembarkation.
Quark Expeditions already had an excellent track record in the expedition market at the time of Ultramarine’s launch. The addition of the new ship has advanced the luxury offerings to match the adventure activities. Cruisers have also figured it out; Ultramarine is already Quark’s most popular ship. She only sails in polar waters spending half the year in antarctica and the other in the Arctic.
