Packing for a World Cruise Made Easy

Java Indonesia

A World Cruise is the ultimate cruise experience. A six-month-long cruise visiting hundreds of the world’s most fascinating destinations will expose you to ever-changing horizons, scenery, culture, and seasons. You have to plan and pack accordingly. Luxury Cruise Connections is here to help with a convenient packing list, so you have everything you need.

Dubrovnik Croatia

Keep these things in mind while preparing:

Most airlines will only allow you to check two large bags, one carry-on, and a personal item. You have to factor in the baggage limitations of airlines while you prepare to pack. Double-check with your airline to make sure you know what type of capacity you will be dealing with pre-cruise and then prioritize items that you won’t be able to buy onboard or in port. This is the first step in maximizing your baggage space. Unless you’re married to a particular brand, don’t bother packing small toiletries and shampoos when you could be using that space for prescription medicine.

Halong Bay Vietnam

As you make your way from destination to destination, plan for different weather and research the climate of the ports you will be visiting.  Bring clothing that you can use for multiple occasions. Layerable garments are your friend. Don’t overpack outerwear because it takes up space.  You will spend a lot of time on tours, so bring your most versatile and comfortable clothing and shoes. Make sure to consult your agent about brand-specific theme nights to be sure you have options prepared in advance.

Bergen Norway

The same goes for formal wear. The vast majority of your days onboard will be casual. Gentlemen should bring two suits that can mix and match into multiple combinations for any formal night. Ladies remember that cocktail dresses take up less room than gowns, and you can reuse them with the clever application of layers and accessories. Dry cleaning and laundry services are available onboard.

Antigua

You will be taking a lot of pictures. Remember, camera equipment takes up vital bag space, so make sure to factor that in. Bring extra memory cards, a small extension cord, and any power inverters for foreign outlets you may need. Think like a photographer while you plan.

Barcelona Spain

Finally, you will be moving across regions throughout your long itinerary. This means that you will experience multiple cultures with different norms and traditions. While shorts and tank tops are perfect for the Caribbean, they are considered inappropriate in certain religious and cultural sites. Make sure you go over every bit of your itinerary with your travel advisor prior to leaving so you have appropriate attire for the sites and landmarks you will be visiting. Temples, shrines, mosques, cathedrals, and synagogues will require various degrees of conservative dress. Men and women should wear long pants, and women should cover their hair when entering Mosques and Synagogues with a scarf.
